Leeds uni is very close to the center. We stayed at Metro last year. About £50pp per night.

There are three budget chain hotels in Leeds, which are relatively central:

Premier Inn Leeds City Centre: Double room is £122 for 2nights

Etap: Double room £80 for 2 nights

Travelodge Central Vicar Lane (double room £105 for 2 nights) and Travelodge Central (double room £91 for two nights)

Leeds has a lot of other hotels. This is a list of the ones that are actually in the town centre. (I found them through Hotels.com): Park Plaza Leeds, Marriott Leeds, 42 The Calls, The Queens Hotel, Novotel Leeds Centre, The Met, Radisson Blu and Leeds City Hilton.
